Norfolk Fly Fishing  is very pleased to announce that we are offering another fabulous fly fishing in scotland guided trip.
 

The guided fly fishing trip will be on the River Teviot in the Scottish Borders and as usual I will be on hand to ensure you have a terrific fishing experience and show you great casting techniques with both single and double handed rods – whatever your ability!

 
 

The Fishing
There are 4 rods available for the week (6 days) or on a half week basis (3 days Monday to Wednesday or Thursday to Saturday). Single or group bookings are welcome.

 

The River Teviot is a major tributary of the famous River Tweed and joins the Tweed just at Kelso. The beat we will be fishing is some 6 miles upstream of the junction and has excellent holding pools for salmon and sea trout; there is also a good head of wild brown trout.
Whatever the conditions, you have a choice of fishing. The access to the beat is good with a single track to the fishing hut, which is situated in the middle of the beat.  Wading is good in most pools and we recommend you bring your chest waders.

 

Where You Will Be Staying
We will be staying in Kelso or Jedburgh, both a short drive from the fishing. The Scottish Borders at this time of year are at their most attractive and there are many interesting places to visit for any non-fishers to enjoy. Kelso holds a major fly fishing show on the 29th &  30th May, giving you an opportunity to see some of the new innovations from the tackle manufacturers and maybe treat your self.

 

How To Get There
From the south, take the A1 north to Newcastle then the A696 to Otterburn then the A68 to Jedburgh.  From Edinburgh airport, take the ring road A702 and the A68 south to Jedburgh.  Complete instructions will be available on receipt of a confirmed booking.

 

What Fishing Gear To Bring?
Bring with you: 9’ to 10’ trout rods 13’/14’ double handed rods, floating and sink tip lines or shooting heads if you have them. Also bring, your net, wading staff, waders and your usual fishing gear. If you do not have a suitable rod or outfit, I have a selection from the Hardy & Greys ranges available for hire at a nominal price (details available on request).

 

How Much Does It Cost?
The price for 6 days is just £865. This includes:
  • 6 nights accommodation
  • Bed & Breakfast
  • Lunch on the riverbank
  • All the guiding and all the fishing
All you have to pay extra is your evening meals and bar bill! If you would prefer a dinner plus B & B deal, there would be £25 per night supplement.
The price for 3 days is just  3 days £432.50. This includes all of the above.

Reserve Your Place With A Deposit
You can reserve your place now with a deposit of £260 on booking on the 6 day guided trip and  £130 0n booking the 3 day guided trip. The balance will be due by May 1st 2010.

The Porstonachan’s large conservatory overlooks the loch, where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner or just sip fresh coffee with some home made Scottish shortbread.  The main restaurant overlooks Loch Awe, where you can taste some excellent Scottish fare all sourced from the local producers.

You now have a choice of 6 different months in which our dedicated team will  ensure you enjoy the full Loch fishing experience.

What Fishing Is Available

Fishing will be available on request, subject to availability of rooms and guides. For those of you who would like to fish for Pike on Loch Awe, fishing dates in November can also be arranged.

During these fishing weeks we will be offering courses in:

  • Beginners Fly Fishing Courses
  • Fishing In A Loch (fly fishing)
  • Dapping
  • Fly Fishing For Pike

We can also arrange to take you salmon fly fishing on the River Orchy or the River Awe – subject to availability – or to a Hill Loch for the really wild brown trout.

The beginners fly fishing courses will usually be over 3 days, Monday to Wednesday, whilst guiding and other types of fishing will be Wednesday through to Saturday/Sunday. However, this is not written in stone and we will do our best to accommodate your requirements during your stay.

Rod and boat hire will be available at all times, but again it is advisable to book your requirements before you travel.

Choose from:  7 days in March,  April,  May or June,  which covers the spring and early summer season, and September and October covering the autumn period.

We’ve purposefully left out July and August when those pesky midges can be at their worst!
